Strobing Cappadocia (#A07CFB) is a soft indigo with a cool character. It leans cool, sitting on the blue, green, and violet side of the wheel. Quiet and dependable, a fit for product UI and data visualization. Its HSL profile (257°, 94%, 74%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Greek stróbos, whirling — present-participle of strobe. As a color modifier, strobing implies a saturated-and-pulse-flashing quality, the bright color of concert-strobe-light and photographic-strobe high-frequency-pulse light emission. Sits at the bright-and-flashing end of the grid, parallel to flashing and pulsating in usage.
Central Anatolian volcanic-tuff region in Turkey, famous for its Hittite-era nazar (evil-eye) amulets cast in deep-cobalt-blue glass. Cappadocia color refers to a hand-blown Cappadocian nazar glass disc on a Göreme bazaar stall: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue-violet with the glossy finish of cobalt-and-iron-flux Anatolian glassmaking. Distinct from the same region's pale-tuff stone formations.
