Old French tracier, to trace — sharing root with English trace and track. The Italian word for forest — used in the Foreste Casentinesi national park of Tuscany and the saturated deep green of Italian Alpine forests. The color refers to a Foreste canopy seen from above: a saturated, slightly cool deep green with the matte finish of mixed conifer-and-broadleaf foliage.
