Pressed Fjord
Pressed Fjord (#9EFFBF) is a soft green with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Latin pressāre, to press — past-participle of press. As a color modifier, pressed implies a clear-and-smoothed-and-flattened quality, the crisp color of Mid-Century-Modern freshly-pressed-shirt-and-trouser ironed-textile finish. The deep glacier-carved coastal inlets of Norway, Iceland, New Zealand, and Patagonia — formed during the Pleistocene as ice sheets retreated and seawater flooded the glacial valleys. Fjord color refers to mid-depth Norwegian fjord water at Geirangerfjord: a deep, slightly cool deep blue-green with the optical complexity of glacier-melt water mixed with cold seawater.
