Spangled Andaman
Spangled Andaman (#9AFDBB) is a soft green with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (140°, 96%, 80%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Middle Dutch spange, clasp / metal-disc — past-participle of spangle. As a color modifier, spangled implies a saturated-and-multi-point-reflective quality, the bright color of American-flag-stars and sequined-fabric metallic-disc-and-jewel-decoration. Sits at the bright-and-reflective end of the grid, parallel to glittering and sequined in usage.
The Indian Ocean sea between the Malay Peninsula and the Andaman Islands — and the saturated blue-green of Andaman water at the Surin and Similan island groups. Andaman color refers to mid-depth Andaman Sea water: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue-green with the optical clarity of tropical Asian water.
