Mapped Ābī
Mapped Ābī (#98E2FA) is a soft cyan with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (195°, 91%, 79%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Latin mappa, cloth / napkin — past-participle of map. As a color modifier, mapped implies a clear-and-cartographic-and-surveyed quality, the crisp color of Ordnance-Survey-and-USGS scientific-and-cadastral cartographic-and-topographic mapping-and-projection. Sits at the crisp-and-mapped end of the grid, parallel to plotted and surveyed in usage.
The Persian word for water-colored (from āb, water) — used for the saturated turquoise-blue of Iranian tile and the ābī glaze of Safavid pottery. The color refers to a polished ābī tile from Isfahan's Imam Mosque: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue-green with the high gloss of fired faience.
