Mapped Lazurite
Mapped Lazurite (#98A4F7) is a soft blue with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (232°, 86%, 78%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Latin mappa, cloth / napkin — past-participle of map. The principal mineral of lapis lazuli — a sodium-aluminum sulfate-silicate from the Sar-e-Sang mines in Badakhshan province of northeastern Afghanistan, the Renaissance source for ultramarine pigment. Lazurite color refers to a freshly cut Sar-e-Sang lapis face showing the central lazurite nucleus: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue-violet with the matte finish of pyrite-flecked lazurite ore.
