Etymology
The progressive participle of dazzle, to overwhelm with brightness — used as a color word since the seventeenth century for hues that read as intense enough to be momentarily blinding. The Mexican-American cocktail of tequila, lime, and triple sec — invented in the late 1930s on the Mexico–US border and served in a salt-rimmed glass.
