Reflective Goji

#8f7b87
Notes

Reflective Goji (#8F7B87) is a true magenta with a cool character. It leans cool, sitting on the blue, green, and violet side of the wheel. Quiet and dependable, a fit for product UI and data visualization. Its HSL profile (324°, 8%, 52%) places it in the muted band at a mid lightness. It works across type, buttons, and borders, saturated enough to feel deliberate but balanced enough to not fight the rest of the palette. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary green. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.

Etymology

Reflective
adjective

Latin reflectere, to bend back — adjectival suffix -ive. As a color modifier, reflective implies a hushed-and-thoughtful-and-mirroring quality where the hue carries the visual register of Quaker-and-Friends-meeting-house still-and-meditative interior-architecture. Sits at the hushed-and-still end of the grid, parallel to meditative and contemplative in usage.

Goji
noun

Chinese Lycium barbarum (枸杞) — a Solanaceae shrub native to the Ningxia region of north-central China, whose deep-magenta drupes have been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for two millennia. Goji color refers to a freshly dried Lycium barbarum drupe-cluster on a Ningxia sun-drying mat: a saturated, slightly cool deep magenta with the matte finish of carotenoid-and-anthocyanin-rich dried-fruit skin.
