Lit Gyokuro
Lit Gyokuro (#8EFFC4) is a soft teal with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (149°, 100%, 78%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary magenta. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.
Etymology
The past participle of light — short and modern. Used as a color word since the late twentieth century for hues that read as if they were illuminated. Lit yellow, lit pink: the implication is luminance combined with the slight optical impression of an internal light source. Sits in the bright-bucket extreme alongside electric.
The premium Japanese green tea grown in shade for three weeks before harvest — concentrating chlorophyll and theanine. Gyokuro (玉露 — jewel dew) is the most expensive non-matcha Japanese tea. The color refers to fresh-brewed gyokuro: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue-green with the optical depth of shaded-leaf tea.
