Effulgent Pistachio
Effulgent Pistachio (#8DC645) is a true lime with a cool character. It leans cool, sitting on the blue, green, and violet side of the wheel. Quiet and dependable, a fit for product UI and data visualization. Its HSL profile (87°, 53%, 52%) places it in the balanced band at a mid lightness. It works across type, buttons, and borders, saturated enough to feel deliberate but balanced enough to not fight the rest of the palette. Etymology
Latin effulgēns, shining-out — present-participle of effulgere, sharing root with fulgor (lightning). As a color modifier, effulgent implies a saturated-and-radiating-light-out quality, the bright color of Renaissance-Madonna halo-and-aureole gold-leaf-and-pigment emission. Sits at the bright-and-saturated end of the grid, parallel to resplendent and radiant in usage.
Pistacia vera, the desert tree from western Asia whose green nut has been a delicacy in Iranian and Levantine cooking for at least three thousand years. The color refers to the cotyledon meat inside the shell: a soft, slightly muted yellow-green with the warmth of plant fat. Lighter than sage, deeper than mint, with the unmistakable association of a Sicilian gelato or a Persian pastry.
