Flat Tampopo
Flat Tampopo (#8C7A13) is a deep amber with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (51°, 76%, 31%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Old Norse flatr, flat / level. As a color modifier, flat implies a clear-and-evenly-spread quality where the hue carries the matte-finish visual register of unmodulated single-plane surface. Sits at the crisp-and-balanced end of the grid, parallel to level and even in usage.
The Japanese word for dandelion — Taraxacum officinale, the cosmopolitan composite-family wildflower whose bright yellow heads dot Japanese spring lawns. Tampopo is also the title of a 1985 Itami Jūzō film about a ramen quest. The color refers to a fresh tampopo bloom: a saturated, slightly red yellow with the matte finish of small ray-florets.
