Adamant Crinoline
Adamant Crinoline (#8C0872) is a deep magenta with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (312°, 89%, 29%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Greek adámas, unconquerable — derived from a- (not) plus damnan (to subdue). As a color modifier, adamant implies a saturated-and-rock-hard quality where the hue maintains diamond-hard pigmentation. Sits at the bold-and-resilient end of the grid, parallel to indomitable and ironclad in usage.
French crin, horsehair — Originally a stiff horsehair-and-linen petticoat fabric, the term crinoline came to refer to the cage-and-hoop dress structure of the 1850s–60s. The deep-magenta fuchsine-dyed crinoline silk was the dominant Belle-Époque colour. Crinoline color refers to a Worth-period crinoline-skirt silk faille: a saturated, slightly cool deep magenta with the silky finish of fuchsine-dyed jacquard-figured Lyon silk.
