Rugged Rhodonite
Rugged Rhodonite (#890A7A) is a deep violet with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (307°, 86%, 29%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Old Norse rugga, rough / coarse — adjectival suffix -ed. Rhodonite color refers to a polished Sverdlovsk rhodonite massive specimen: a saturated, slightly cool deep magenta with the matte finish of manganese-rich silicate. The Greek genus name rhódon (rose) refers to the characteristic deep-pink color of crystalline specimens.
