Old Norse tǫturr, rag — past-participle of tatter. As a color modifier, tattered implies a hushed-and-shredded-and-aged quality, the hushed color of multi-decade flag-and-banner heavily-worn-and-storm-aged ceremonial-textile. Lazurite color refers to a freshly cut Sar-e-Sang lapis face showing the central lazurite nucleus: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue-violet with the matte finish of pyrite-flecked lazurite ore.
