Etymology
Old English forð-riht, straight ahead, direct. Used as a color modifier in Anglo-Saxon-revival contexts for hues that read as honest and unguarded. The Burgundian capital that gave its name to the smooth, sharp prepared mustard developed there in the nineteenth century — moutarde de Dijon, made with verjuice instead of vinegar. The color refers to a freshly opened jar of Dijon: a warm, slightly muted gold-yellow that's deeper than honey and earthier than canary. The geographic indication Moutarde de Bourgogne protects a similar style; Dijon itself is now a generic term in commerce.
