Forthright Shikon
Forthright Shikon (#801FCA) is a true indigo with a vibrant character. It holds its own as a focal accent, carrying visual weight without tipping into neon territory. It works across type, buttons, and borders, saturated enough to feel deliberate but balanced enough to not fight the rest of the palette. Etymology
Old English forð-riht, straight ahead, direct. Used as a color modifier in Anglo-Saxon-revival contexts for hues that read as honest and unguarded. Japanese 紫根, gromwell root (Lithospermum erythrorhizon) — the purple-root dye source for traditional Japanese murasaki and the medicinal-herb base for the eponymous shikon ointment used in burn treatment. Shikon color refers to a freshly harvested Lithospermum erythrorhizon root cross-section: a saturated, slightly cool deep violet with the matte finish of fresh root dye on hand-spun silk.
