Bountiful Shikon
Bountiful Shikon (#7B1897) is a deep violet with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (287°, 73%, 34%) places it in the balanced band at a dark lightness. It works well as a headline, icon, or deep background in an otherwise light layout, pairing cleanly with cream, bone, and warm neutrals. Etymology
Old French bonté, goodness — adjectival suffix -ful. As a color modifier, bountiful implies a saturated-and-generous-and-abundant quality where the hue offers visual richness without measure. Sits at the bold-and-saturated end of the grid, parallel to abundant and plentiful in usage.
Japanese 紫根, gromwell root (Lithospermum erythrorhizon) — the purple-root dye source for traditional Japanese murasaki and the medicinal-herb base for the eponymous shikon ointment used in burn treatment. Shikon color refers to a freshly harvested Lithospermum erythrorhizon root cross-section: a saturated, slightly cool deep violet with the matte finish of fresh root dye on hand-spun silk.
