Spick Nasturtium
Spick Nasturtium (#792E0D) is a deep orange with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (18°, 81%, 26%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Old Norse spik-spakr, spike-new — sharing root with spic-and-span. As a color modifier, spick implies a clear-and-newly-cleaned quality where the hue carries the just-polished visual register of fresh-painted-and-fresh-cleaned surfaces. Tropaeolum majus, the South American climbing plant naturalized as a kitchen-garden flower across Europe. Nasturtium (from the Latin naris-torquere, nose-twisting, for the peppery flavor) has edible leaves and saturated red-orange flowers. The color refers to a fresh T. majus bloom: a saturated, slightly red orange with the satin finish of bee-pollinated flower. Brighter than carrot.
