Erebine Brazilwood (#770C07) is a deep red with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Greek Erebine, of Erebus — adjectival form of Erebus, the primordial deity of darkness in Hesiod's Theogony. Sits at the deepest-and-coolest end of the grid, parallel to Stygian and Cimmerian.
Caesalpinia echinata, the dye-source tree of Atlantic-coast South America — so abundant in Portuguese-controlled territory that it gave the country its name.
