Heroic Moegi (#709D27) is a true lime with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Latin hēroicus, of a hero — derived from Greek hērōs. As a color modifier, heroic implies a saturated-and-monumental-and-victorious quality, the deep-rich color of Wagner-and-Sibelius late-Romantic-era musical-and-painterly heroic-mode. Sits at the bold-and-celebratory end of the grid, parallel to triumphant and valiant.
Japanese for sprouting yellow — the yellow-green of Carex sedge sprouts and rice seedlings. Moegi-iro is one of the seasonal colors of the Heian-period kasane layered-kimono palette, worn during the spring planting season. The color refers to fresh moegi sprouts in a paddy: a saturated, slightly yellow yellow-green with the matte finish of small fresh leaves.
