Erebine Jiang (#700D0A) is a deep red with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Greek Erebine, of Erebus — adjectival form of Erebus, the primordial deity of darkness in Hesiod's Theogony. As a color modifier, erebine implies the deepest primordial-darkness of pre-cosmic chaos, with literary-cosmological register. Sits at the deepest-and-coolest end of the grid, parallel to Stygian and Cimmerian.
A deep crimson historical Chinese color — used in the jiangcao (deep-crimson) silks of Tang-dynasty court robes and the lacquer of Han-period burial chambers.
