Twilit Sangiovese
Twilit Sangiovese (#6F1E12) is a deep red with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (8°, 72%, 25%) places it in the balanced band at a dark lightness. It works well as a headline, icon, or deep background in an otherwise light layout, pairing cleanly with cream, bone, and warm neutrals. Etymology
An adjectival form of twilight, coined in the late nineteenth century. Twilit describes a color seen at twilight — the slight cooling and desaturation that low ambient light introduces. Sits in the deep-and-cool corner, lighter than somber and bluer than shadowed. Almost exclusively literary.
The dominant red grape of central Italy — backbone of Chianti, Brunello, and Vino Nobile. The color refers to a young Brunello di Montalcino: a saturated, slightly cool deep red with the optical complexity of well-aged Tuscan wine. Deeper than Chianti, cooler than Tempranillo.
