From the Latin vividus, full of life — used as a color modifier since the late sixteenth century for hues that read as luminous and saturated. The color refers to a glazed Goryeo bowl in display lighting: a soft, slightly muted green-blue with the high shine of vitrified silica. Cooler than jade, warmer than seafoam, with the museum weight of a ceramic tradition prized in East Asian imperial courts.
