Earnest Vesuvianite
Earnest Vesuvianite (#6DA010) is a true lime with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (81°, 82%, 35%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary indigo. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.
Etymology
Old English eornost, seriousness, zeal. Used as a color modifier since the nineteenth century for hues that read as committed but unshowy — the working blues of denim, the deep greens of Quaker meetinghouses. Sits in the bold-and-quiet corner of the grid, slightly less luminous than resolute and slightly less institutional than imperial.
A calcium-aluminum-magnesium silicate gem — also called idocrase — mined principally near Mount Vesuvius (the source of its name) and in California. Yellow-green to brown-green in color. The color refers to a faceted Italian vesuvianite: a saturated, slightly muted yellow-green with the gem's internal warmth.
