Hadean Zǐ
Hadean Zǐ (#6A0B89) is a deep violet with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (285°, 85%, 29%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Greek Hadean, of Hades — adjectival form of Hades. As a color modifier, hadean implies the deep cool-darkness of the classical-Greek underworld realms, with literary-poetic register. Sits at the deep-and-cool end of the grid, parallel to plutonian and Stygian in classical-mythological register.
Chinese 紫, purple — the imperial court color of the Tang and Song dynasties, derived from Lithospermum erythrorhizon (gromwell) and overdyed with Polygonum tinctorium. Zǐ color refers to a Tang-dynasty imperial robe field: a saturated, slightly cool deep violet with the silk luster of multi-bath gromwell-root-and-indigo overdye on tussah silk. Cooler than zǐsè (formal deep purple).
