Stormy Apatite (#613E02) is a deep amber with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (38°, 96%, 19%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Old English storm, storm — adjectival suffix -y. As a color modifier, stormy implies a deep-and-turbulent-and-cool-shifted quality, the dark cool-gray of Force-9-gale atmospheric-turbulence sky. Sits at the deep-and-turbulent end of the grid, parallel to thunderous and tempestuous in atmospheric register.
A calcium phosphate mineral — known to mineralogists as the source rock for fertilizer and to gem traders as a yellow-to-green-to-blue gem. The yellow variety is mined principally in Madagascar and Brazil. The color refers to a faceted yellow apatite: a saturated, slightly cool yellow with the gem's signature internal warmth.
