Flamboyant Variscite
Flamboyant Variscite (#5FB00C) is a true lime with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (90°, 87%, 37%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. French flamboyant, flaming — present-participle of flamboyer, derived from flambe (flame). As a color modifier, flamboyant implies a saturated-and-attention-grabbing-and-elaborate quality, the bright color of Late-Gothic-and-Rococo highly-decorative-architectural ornament. Sits at the bright-and-flamboyant end of the grid, parallel to showy and ostentatious in usage.
A hydrated aluminum phosphate mineral — yellow-green to blue-green in color, mined principally in Utah and Australia. Often confused with low-grade turquoise. The color refers to a polished variscite cabochon: a soft, slightly muted yellow-green with the matte finish of opaque mineral. Cooler than prehnite.
