Forthright Spinach
Forthright Spinach (#5F7F12) is a deep lime with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (78°, 75%, 28%) places it in the balanced band at a dark lightness. It works well as a headline, icon, or deep background in an otherwise light layout, pairing cleanly with cream, bone, and warm neutrals. Etymology
Old English forð-riht, straight ahead, direct. Used as a color modifier in Anglo-Saxon-revival contexts for hues that read as honest and unguarded. Spinacia oleracea, the Persian leaf cultivated in China and the Mediterranean since the seventh century, popularized in twentieth-century America by Popeye and a misplaced decimal point in an iron-content study. The color refers to fresh raw spinach leaves: a saturated, slightly yellow-shifted green with the matte finish of a crinkled-savoy leaf.
