Alit Blå

Old English ā-lihtan, to alight — past-participle of alight. The Scandinavian word for blue — used for the Dannebrog blå (Danish flag blue) and the saturated deep blue of Norwegian and Swedish folk costumes. The color refers to a Norwegian bunad embroidered detail: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue with the matte finish of dyed wool.
