Established Yamaai
Established Yamaai (#5752EC) is a true blue with a vibrant character. It holds its own as a focal accent, carrying visual weight without tipping into neon territory. Etymology
Latin stabilīre, to make stable — past-participle of establish. As a color modifier, established implies a saturated-and-rooted quality where the hue carries the weight of long-standing visual presence. Sits at the bold-and-firm end of the grid, parallel to steadfast and anchored in usage.
Japanese mountain indigo, Mercurialis leiocarpa — a wild herb used for dyeing in the Heian period (794–1185) before cultivated aizome indigo supplanted it. Yamaai color refers to a freshly yamaai-dyed silk: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue-violet with the matte finish of mineral-mordanted natural dye. The plant is the only naturally occurring indican-type indigo precursor in Japan.
