From Old English smolderian, to burn slowly — past-participle of smoulder. Citrus junos, the Japanese citrus prized for its aromatic peel — used in yuzu kosho paste, yuzu ponzu, and the yuzu-yu baths of Japanese New Year. The color refers to a fully ripe yuzu in late autumn: a soft, slightly cool yellow-orange with the matte finish of pebbled citrus rind. Cooler than mikan, lighter than tangerine.
