Profound Yuzu
Profound Yuzu (#4F200B) is a deep orange with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (19°, 76%, 18%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
From the Latin profundus, deep — sharing the same root as the noun profundity. As a color modifier, profound is the literary register for deep beyond ordinary measure — used for darks that read as bottomless or inexhaustible. Sits at the dark end of the grid alongside stygian and cavernous, with slightly more dignity and slightly less menace.
Citrus junos, the Japanese citrus prized for its aromatic peel — used in yuzu kosho paste, yuzu ponzu, and the yuzu-yu baths of Japanese New Year. The color refers to a fully ripe yuzu in late autumn: a soft, slightly cool yellow-orange with the matte finish of pebbled citrus rind. Cooler than mikan, lighter than tangerine.
