Prismatic Apple
Prismatic Apple (#4EAC01) is a deep lime with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (93°, 99%, 34%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary indigo. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.
Etymology
Greek prísma, prism — adjectival suffix -ic. As a color modifier, prismatic implies a saturated-and-multi-spectrum-decomposed quality, the bright color of crystal-prism and cut-glass-chandelier light-refraction-spectrum decomposition. Sits at the bright-and-shifting end of the grid, parallel to iridescent and spectral in usage.
Malus domestica, the temperate fruit selected from a wild ancestor in the Tian Shan mountains of Kazakhstan. The color refers to a green apple cultivar like Granny Smith or Crispin: a clean, slightly yellow-shifted green with the polished surface of waxed fruit. Brighter than sage, cooler than lime, with the bracing acidity that distinguishes a hard cooking apple from its sweet eating cousins.
