Strobing Nautilus
Strobing Nautilus (#4CF8A7) is a true teal with a neon character. It sits at the high-saturation edge of its family. Use it sparingly, as signage, accent, or highlight against darker surfaces. Its HSL profile (152°, 92%, 64%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Greek stróbos, whirling — present-participle of strobe. As a color modifier, strobing implies a saturated-and-pulse-flashing quality, the bright color of concert-strobe-light and photographic-strobe high-frequency-pulse light emission. Sits at the bright-and-flashing end of the grid, parallel to flashing and pulsating in usage.
Nautilus pompilius, the chambered nautilus — a living-fossil cephalopod whose mother-of-pearl interior shell is the source of abalone-style iridescence. Nautilus color refers to the inner shell of a polished nautilus: a soft, slightly cool pale blue-green with the iridescent satin finish of nacreous biomineral.
