Etched Lánsè
Etched Lánsè (#4AD9FD) is a true cyan with a neon character. It sits at the high-saturation edge of its family. Use it sparingly, as signage, accent, or highlight against darker surfaces. Its HSL profile (192°, 98%, 64%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. German ätzen, to etch — past-participle of etch. As a color modifier, etched implies a clear-and-precisely-incised quality, the crisp color of Rembrandt-and-Dürer hand-pulled etching-print fine-line incised-image. Sits at the crisp-and-incised end of the grid, parallel to engraved and inscribed in usage.
The Chinese word for blue — combining lán (blue) and sè (color). Used for the blue of Ming-dynasty porcelain underglaze, lán-bù (denim), and the deep blue of imperial banners. The color refers to fresh-painted lán-bù cotton: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue with the matte finish of indigo-and-cotton.
