Voluptuous Charoite
Voluptuous Charoite (#464BE6) is a true blue with a vibrant character. It holds its own as a focal accent, carrying visual weight without tipping into neon territory. Its HSL profile (238°, 76%, 59%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Latin voluptuōsus, pleasurable — derived from voluptās (pleasure). As a color modifier, voluptuous implies a saturated-and-rich-and-curving-sensual quality, the deep-rich color of Rubens-and-Boucher baroque-and-rococo flesh-and-fabric tonality. Sits at the bold-and-saturated end of the grid, parallel to lush and plush in tone.
Russian violet-banded mineral mined exclusively along the Chara River in Yakutia, eastern Siberia, since the 1940s. Charoite color refers to a polished Yakutian charoite cabochon: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue-violet with the silky chatoyant finish of fibrous strontium-potassium-calcium silicate. The only deep-violet mineral mined commercially in Russia, valued for its complex banded patterning.
