Stamped Celery
Stamped Celery (#3D6708) is a deep lime with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Old English stempan, to stamp — past-participle of stamp. As a color modifier, stamped implies a clear-and-impressed-and-repeating quality, the crisp color of William-Morris-and-Liberty-of-London block-printed-textile carefully-impressed pattern. Apium graveolens, the marsh herb cultivated for its crisp pale-green stalks since at least the time of Homer, though the modern crunchy celery is a nineteenth-century selection. The color refers to a fresh celery rib in profile: a soft, slightly muted pale green with the optical translucency of high-water-content vegetable tissue. Lighter than pear, cooler than wheat.
