Neon Advent Peridot
Neon Advent Peridot (#3CF6CD) is a true teal with a neon character. It sits at the high-saturation edge of its family. Use it sparingly, as signage, accent, or highlight against darker surfaces. Its HSL profile (167°, 91%, 60%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Greek néon, new — element-name (atomic-number 10), discovered by William Ramsay in 1898. As a color modifier, neon implies a saturated-and-electric-glow quality, the bright color of Las-Vegas-and-Times-Square neon-marquee gas-discharge-tube emission. Sits at the bright-and-electric end of the grid, parallel to electric and fluorescent in usage.
Latin adventus, arrival. As a color modifier, advent implies a December-Pre-Christmas-and-purple quality, the visual register of Roman-Catholic-and-Anglican Advent-period purple-and-pink-vestment-and-wreath-and-candle liturgical surfaces under Advent-period candlelit-purple-and-pink ecclesiastical light. Sits at the modifier-and-time end of the grid, parallel to yule and easter in usage.
The transparent green variety of olivine — the gem mined from Egyptian Zabargad Island since pharaonic times and now from arid mountain ranges in Pakistan, Arizona, and Vietnam. The color refers to a faceted peridot: a clean, slightly yellow-shifted green with the gem's signature internal warmth. Lighter than emerald, brighter than olivine in its rough state, with the unusual gem-trade quality of being one of the few minerals that occurs in only one color.
