Engraved Rush (#3C5D11) is a deep lime with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Etymology
Old French engraver, to dig in — past-participle of engrave. As a color modifier, engraved implies a clear-and-precisely-cut quality, the crisp color of Albrecht-Dürer-and-Hogarth hand-pulled engraving-print fine-line incised-image. Sits at the crisp-and-incised end of the grid, parallel to etched and inscribed in usage.
The genus Juncus — wetland sedge-family plants whose hollow green stems were used historically for rushlights (torches dipped in tallow) and traditional weaving. The color refers to a clump of fresh rushes in a damp meadow: a saturated, slightly cool deep yellow-green with the matte finish of round hollow stalks.
