Forthright Slate
Forthright Slate (#3A63FB) is a true blue with a neon character. It sits at the high-saturation edge of its family. Use it sparingly, as signage, accent, or highlight against darker surfaces. Its HSL profile (227°, 96%, 61%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Old English forð-riht, straight ahead, direct. Used as a color modifier in Anglo-Saxon-revival contexts for hues that read as honest and unguarded. A fine-grained metamorphic rock formed from compressed shale — fissile, durable, and the standard roofing material for Welsh and Vermont houses since the nineteenth century. The color refers to a freshly split piece of Welsh slate: a soft, slightly muted gray-blue with the matte finish of a layered mineral cleavage.
