Lionhearted Polypody

Old English lēona-heorte, lion's-heart — referring to Richard I Lionheart (1157–1199). The genus Polypodium — small evergreen ferns that grow on rocks and tree branches in temperate forests. The color refers to mature P. vulgare fronds: a saturated, slightly cool deep yellow-green with the satin finish of small persistent fern leaves.
