Composed Slate
Composed Slate (#3175FC) is a true azure with a neon character. It sits at the high-saturation edge of its family. Use it sparingly, as signage, accent, or highlight against darker surfaces. Its HSL profile (220°, 97%, 59%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. The past participle of compose, to arrange together — used as a color modifier for hues that read as deliberate and balanced. A fine-grained metamorphic rock formed from compressed shale — fissile, durable, and the standard roofing material for Welsh and Vermont houses since the nineteenth century. The color refers to a freshly split piece of Welsh slate: a soft, slightly muted gray-blue with the matte finish of a layered mineral cleavage.
