Torrid Caryopteris (#2EA7F4) is a true azure with a neon character. It sits at the high-saturation edge of its family. Use it sparingly, as signage, accent, or highlight against darker surfaces. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Latin torridus, parched / scorching — sharing root with torrēre (to dry by heat). Sits at the bright-and-warm end of the grid, parallel to scorching and fiery in usage.
The genus Caryopteris — blue mist shrub or bluebeard — Asian and Mediterranean shrubs whose late-summer blue flower clusters attract pollinators. The color refers to a fresh C. clandonensis 'Heavenly Blue' inflorescence: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue with the matte finish of small clustered florets.
