Confident Yew
Confident Yew (#2E8600) is a deep lime with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (99°, 100%, 26%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary indigo. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.
Etymology
A late-Latin participle, confidens, trusting — borrowed into English in the sixteenth century. As a color modifier, confident implies saturation combined with poise: a confident red doesn't try too hard, just sits at the level of its hue without overreaching. Sits in the bold-bucket center near bold and resolute.
Taxus baccata, the European yew — a long-lived conifer (some specimens over 2,000 years old) traditionally planted in English churchyards. The color refers to mature yew foliage: a deep, slightly muted very dark green with the matte finish of resin-coated needle foliage. Darker than juniper.
