Bleak Hardal
Bleak Hardal (#2E3707) is a deep yellow with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Old Norse bleikr, pale — sharing root with English bleach. As a color modifier, bleak implies a deep-and-cold-and-comfortless quality, the dark gray-pale of Yorkshire-Moors and Hebrides late-winter atmospheric-light. Sits at the deep-and-cool end of the grid, parallel to grim and bitter in atmospheric register.
The Turkish word for mustard — used both for the condiment and the slightly muted gold-yellow of the hardal sauces of Anatolian kitchens.
