Alit Tea

Old English ā-lihtan, to alight — past-participle of alight. As a color modifier, alit implies a saturated-and-just-illuminated quality, the bright color of evening-streetlamp and Christmas-tree-light freshly-switched-on emission. The processed leaves of Camellia sinensis, in either its assamica or sinensis variety. The color tea refers to the dried green tea leaves before brewing: a soft, slightly muted gray-green with the matte finish of withered and rolled foliage.
