Etymology
From the Greek elektron, amber — the substance whose static-electric properties were observed by Thales of Miletus. The central African river and basin — and the saturated deep green of Congo Basin rainforest, the world's second-largest tropical-rainforest system after the Amazon. Congo refers to a Congo Basin canopy in the wet season: a saturated, slightly cool deep green with the matte finish of equatorial-rainforest foliage.
