Shadowed Yomogi
Shadowed Yomogi (#285100) is a deep lime with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (90°, 100%, 16%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary indigo. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.
Etymology
The past participle of shadow, used adjectivally for a color that reads as if partially in shadow rather than fully lit. Implies the slight darkening and cooling that any color undergoes when light is reduced — not the absence of color but the muting of it. Sits in the deep-and-cool end of the engine's grid, lighter than inky and warmer than somber.
Artemisia indica, Japanese mugwort — used in yomogi-mochi (mugwort rice cakes) and as a traditional moxibustion herb. Yomogi-iro refers to the slightly muted yellow-green of fresh mugwort leaves: a soft, slightly muted yellow-green with the matte finish of pubescent leaf surface. Drier than wakaba.
