Hardy Lazulite
Hardy Lazulite (#277CF9) is a true azure with a neon character. It sits at the high-saturation edge of its family. Use it sparingly, as signage, accent, or highlight against darker surfaces. Its HSL profile (216°, 95%, 56%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Old French hardi, bold / brave — past-participle of hardir (to make brave). As a color modifier, hardy implies a saturated-and-cold-resistant quality, the deep-rich color of Scandinavian-and-Russian boreal-forest-and-tundra outdoor-clothing. Sits at the bold-and-resilient end of the grid, parallel to tough and resilient.
A magnesium-iron-aluminum phosphate mineral — distinct from lapis lazuli despite the etymological cousin. Mined principally in Yukon Territory (Canada) and Madagascar. The color refers to a polished lazulite cabochon: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue with the matte finish of opaque phosphate mineral.
