Buried Yanagi
Buried Yanagi (#243502) is a deep lime with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (80°, 93%, 11%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary indigo. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.
Etymology
Old English byrgan, to inter — past-participle of bury. As a color modifier, buried implies the deep-shrouded darkness of a sealed-and-covered hue, where surface qualities are obscured by intervening material. Sits at the deep-and-obscured end of the grid, parallel to cloaked and entombed.
Salix — the willow in Japanese, and the soft yellow-green of fresh willow leaves in spring. Yanagi-iro is a traditional Japanese fashion color, distinct from moegi by its slightly cooler shift. The color refers to a fresh willow leaf along a Kyoto canal: a soft, slightly cool yellow-green with the satin finish of new lanceolate foliage.
